THE BUSINESS OF LIFE

The Lord says, ‘I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you’” (Psalm 32:8, NLT).

Any business course worth its salt will teach you that in order to be a success, you need to establish these four (4) things:

(1) MISSION STATEMENT: Why do you exist? What is your purpose? What is it that you want people to look at you and say, “Thank you for being you – I needed that!”

(2) VISION: What is the Next Big Thing on your list that you want to accomplish that will help you fulfill your Mission? (Your Vision will move from One Big Thing to the next, but your Mission will never change.)

(3) STRATEGY: How are you going to get from Point A to Point B to accomplish your Vision to help you fulfill your Mission?

(4) PLAN: What are the 1,2,3-steps that you’re going to take to complete your Strategy to accomplish your Vision to fulfill your Mission?

Simple enough, yes? We do a lot of different things to try to make our jobs and our lives a success, don’t we? We learn what is necessary. We work hard. We apply ourselves. We stick to a schedule. We do what is necessary to put food on the table and keep a roof over our heads.

I’m sure you will agree how important these accomplishments are in order to maintain our daily lives. But what about our spiritual lives? Isn’t that even MORE IMPORTANT? After all, as Christ followers, shouldn’t we weave Him into everything we do? Where does Jesus fit into our plans?

Let’s look at this again:

(1) MISSION: I want to be bold in Jesus, and tell ten people about what Jesus has done in my life in the next 90-days. I live to serve Jesus, have Him lead my life, and show Him to people around me in the way I live.

(2) VISION: I live to serve Jesus, have Him lead my life, and show Him to people around me in the way I live.

(3) STRATEGY: I will create a daily plan for growing and becoming more confident in my faith.

(4) PLAN: (a) I will get up thirty minutes early every day and read my Bible or devotion for twenty minutes. (b) I will use, at least, the other ten minutes praying and asking the Lord what it is that I can do for Him today. (c) Every day I will seek God’s teaching or counsel at church or with another Christian friends. (d) I will give more time to Him as His blessings of this plan take root in my life.

Now, please let me say that I’m not trying to fit anybody’s life into a box or, for that matter, trying to fit God’s plan for anyone into a box. However, for those of us that need a little structure, a little help in staying on track with the important things in life, I hope this can help.
