10 REASONS TO READ THE BIBLE

In the beginning was the WORD, and the WORD was with God, and the WORD was God. He was with God in the beginning. Through Him all things were made; without Him nothing was made that has been made. In Him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it” (John 1:1-5, NIV). [WORD = JESUS; who was, is, and is to come!]

“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do” (Joshua 1:8).

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates” (Deuteronomy 6:6-9).

“Your Word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path” (Psalm 119:105).

“Every word of God is flawless; He is a shield to those who take refuge in Him” (Proverbs 30:5).

“The grass withers and the flowers fall, but the word of our God endures forever” (Isaiah 40:8).

“Jesus answered, ‘It is written: “Man shall not live on bread alone, but on every word that comes from the mouth of God”’” (Matthew 4:4).

“If you remain in Me and My words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you” (John 15:7).

“For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope” (Romans 15:4).

“All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Timothy 3:16-17).

“For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart” (Hebrews 4:12).

The Word of God stands on its own, now and for all time. It is not outdated or irrelevant. It is not the opinion of a bunch of old men from a long time ago. It is not subjective to what we want it to say.

The BIBLE IS God’s timeless, absolute, and objective truth that is applicable to any generation at any time in history. Simply put, the BIBLE IS God’s story of redemptive love for us, to bring us into His presence through His Son, Jesus Christ. Period.
