NEW YEAR RESOLUTIONS 2022

Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses” (1 Timothy 6:12, NLT).

Happy New Year, Everyone! Have you set your New Year’s resolution? Yes? No? What is YOUR resolution? Now that we think about it, WHAT IS a resolution?

Answer: a resolution is a resolve of commitment. A resolution is a commitment to a plan, an idea, a goal that matters most to you. So that begs another question; what matters most to you?

The things that matter to us can be things like our families, our jobs, our health, you fill in the blank with the things that matter the most to you – things that you would like to accomplish or that you would want to change for the better.

Scottish poet Robert Burns once wrote, “The best laid plans of mice and men” never go as we had planned. There are going to be complications as we try to fulfill our plans. There are going to be hurdles to jump over and obstacles to overcome.

There are going to be temptations to entice us away from our path. Procrastination will raise its ugly head. Old tapes and emotional baggage will hinder every step we take.

So, knowing about all the things that stand to hold us back, are you ready to fight the battle to reclaim the resolutions that God has for you, resolutions for a better life with Christ?

Starting today we must all learn how to fight for what matters the most in our lives. And when we look beyond our own desires and seek our resolutions from God, then we are guaranteed that He is with us and will empower us through the fight.

Setting our sights on the resolutions that God would have for us, the things that HE tells us that matter the most, is what will enable us to best fulfill our relationships, our jobs, and our lives in general in wonderful ways.

If we’re going to make New Year’s resolutions, then let’s all learn to make resolutions that are pleasing to God so that we can fight the good fight and win through Christ! And let’s also remember this… others are watching us to see what our priorities are. It is our God-honoring duty to show them that our priority is Jesus!

Happy New Year!
