FOREVER AND EVER

A couple of weeks ago, our Women’s Bible Class studied Psalm 118. The first four verses ended with the word “forever.” As we were discussing these verses, I started thinking more deeply about the word “forever.” What does it actually mean?

If we are thinking in everyday terms, you can say you want something to last forever. Maybe that’s a car, favorite t-shirt, your forever home, best friends, your marriage, your love for someone.

But in truth, we know that none of these will last forever. When we read the Bible and see and hear and learn about God, do we pause to realize the magnitude of what His forever really is? When God says something is forever – it is! That is truly hard to comprehend because as individuals we are unable to think in those terms. I’m not even sure an astrophysicist fully comprehends “forever” without first knowing God!

That is OK, because we cannot “do forever” on our own. Only God “does forever.”  And it is such a comforting thought that He will do His forever for us. That is His covenant to the faithful, and He will never go against His promises. His word is true, it can be depended on, trusted and believed.

This is the whole reason He sent Jesus. The only One that can bring us to our forever home.

“Give thanks to the Lord, for He is good; His faithful love endures forever. Let Israel say, ‘His faithful love endures forever.’ Let the house of Aaron say, ‘His faithful love endures forever.’ Let those who fear the Lord say, ‘His faithful love endures forever’” (Psalms 118:1-4 HCSB).

Hoping to See You in Forever,
