WEEKLY WORD – TRUST (2/9/21)

Trust: assured reliance on the character, ability, strength or truth of someone or something.

I was thinking today… I have to admit that sometimes I have a hard time with trust. I think partly because I like to feel in control and not rely on anyone else. The ironic thing is, God is all about relying on Him, surrendering our will to His will in all situations. We know that people make mistakes, and sometimes when we put our trust in someone else we get hurt. However, God does not make mistakes, so we can’t think in human terms when we think of our mighty God.

Everyday, and sometimes every moment, we need to remind ourselves of the goodness of God and that He loves us. He knows what’s best for us in the end. He sees the bigger picture that we cannot see. So, when you have trouble with trusting God, pray for His help with it. When you are in a tough situation – pray for His guidance and if it doesn’t turn out the way you think it should, be okay with that because you brought our mighty Creator into the situation and His will be done. That doesn’t mean that you sit back and aren’t pro-active in the solution, do what you can and trust God with the outcome.

We need to stay in Scripture and always be learning about God and His character, so that our trust in Him will become easier and more natural.

(Proverbs 3:5-6) Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight.

(Isaiah 26:3-4) You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord Himself, is the Rock eternal.

(Jeremiah 17:7-8) “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in Him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.”
