WEEKLY WORD – SON OF MAN (1/12/21)

I was thinking today… Jesus referred to himself as the Son of Man many times in the bible. I don’t know about you, but I tend to think of Jesus’ divine side and not His human side. The ironic thing is I think when He was here in the flesh, walking among people, they had trouble seeing his divine side. They saw Him walking, talking, eating, etc., doing the regular things we do. They saw Him do miraculous healings and teach things they hadn’t heard before, but they still didn’t quite understand His divinity.

We need to remember that Jesus was human as well as divine. He felt sadness, anger, frustration, joy, pain, etc., so that we can relate to Him and He can relate to us.

Think about it, don’t you have a closer relationship with someone who understands your pain and struggles? Sadness and joy? Jesus understands! When we feel bad, He gets it! Talk to Him not only about your struggles but also your joy, compassion, love, the good and the bad. Read and learn about Him in the bible, develop that relationship with Him. Son of Man and Son of God.

Here are just a few scripture references:

Betrayal: Matthew 26:23-25

Sadness: John 11:33-36

Anger: Mark 11:15-17

Frustration: Mark 8:17-21
