WEEKLY WORD – PRAY, TRUST, OBEY (9/14/21)

I was thinking today… about decisions. I know for me personally, if I feel I have a big decision to make, and I don’t know what to do, it can become so all-consuming that it takes my focus away from God. And that makes me angry. I have to stop myself and take a step back and give it to God.

We all need to remember to seek God and His will always in our lives for all of our decisions, big and small. We must pray, trust and obey what God is communicating to us. If you aren’t sure, then ask for clarity, for doors to be opened or closed etc.

When I was younger, I would make a lot of quick, rash decisions and now that I am older (and hopefully a bit wiser! Ha!) I do my best to take a step back, pray for Gods’ guidance, His will, trust that He will lead me, and then obey what He is leading me to do. It is not easy! Honestly, it’s much easier to just run with whatever you feel you want to do at the time.

As Christians wanting to honor and please our God and to do His will, we need to allow Him to show us His will in our circumstances. I think sometimes we know what He is leading us to do, but we disagree or we think – no, that doesn’t make sense, but we don’t see the big picture. God will lead us, but we have to be open to it – we have to pray, trust and obey.

(Psalm 33: 18-22) But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him, on those whose hope is in his unfailing love, to deliver them from death and keep them alive in famine. We wait in hope for the Lord; he is our help and our shield. In him our hearts rejoice, for we trust in his holy name. May our unfailing love be with us, Lord, even as we put our hope in you.

(Psalm 28:7) The Lord is my strength and my shield; my heart trusts in him, and he helps me. My heart leaps for joy, and with my song I praise him.

(Isaiah 12:2) Surely God is my salvation; I will trust and not be afraid. The Lord, the Lord himself, is my strength and my defense; he has become my salvation.

(Psalm 62:8) Trust in him at all times, you people; pour out your hearts to him, for God is our refuge.

To God be the Glory,
