WEEKLY WORD – GOD’S TIMING (10/5/21)

I was thinking today about… God’s timing. I wish I could say I patiently wait, trust His timing in situations and don’t stress, worry or get upset, but that’s a tall order! I can say from my personal experience that when I get to the point where I have done my best, all I can, been pro-active in challenging times and then surrender and say I give up God, there’s nothing more I can do – that’s when a check shows up in the mail, a job opportunity comes through, etc. God makes a way when I can’t see a way.

I want to do God’s will always, so I have to trust that He will guide and direct me in my situations. I also do my best to be okay with how those situations turn out and know that God may be changing my direction or I need to wait for more guidance. I do think you must trust and then be okay with where God leads you. You can’t have one without the other, they intertwine. We also have to keep in mind it’s not just about this life, but about our eternal life with God and Jesus.

Sure, there are times I wonder why His timing seems to come only when I’ve reached my breaking point. After I’ve stressed, worried, lost sleep etc., why can’t it come before I go through all of that? Then I realize, maybe that’s the lesson – am I fully trusting God if I’m freaking out? When I give up is when I finally trust Him the most. I think God wants us to do our best and be pro-active but also trust him with the outcome.

I think we can all relate to this at some point in our lives. We can bring God into our situations and challenges, and think we are fully trusting God, but then realize we aren’t all-in to trusting Him, so we need to surrender our will to His will and experience the blessings!

Look at Abraham and Sarah. It took a long time for Sarah to get pregnant and have Isaac. Abraham was just about to sacrifice Isaac when God stopped him – at the last minute! It’s a hard lesson to learn and God knows I will probably be taught this lesson countless times! It reminds me of the song in church (sing it Theo!) He’s an on-time God, yes He is!

(Psalm 27:14) Wait for the Lord; be strong and take heart and wait for the Lord.

(Proverbs 16:9) In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps.

(Micah 7:7) But as for me, I watch in hope for the Lord, I wait for God my Savior; my God will hear me.

(Genesis 18:14) “Is anything too hard for the Lord? I will return to you at the appointed time next year, and Sarah will have a son.”

To God be the Glory,
