GROUNDED IN GOD

I was thinking today… about being grounded in God. I think when we don’t have a busy schedule or if our job is in a church-ministry, it’s probably easier to stay grounded in God. But I have noticed that when I get busy or start a new job, have family activities etc., I tend to slide a bit on reading Scripture and being present with God daily. I wish I could say I’m always pro-active and get up early to read Scripture etc., but honestly that’s not always the case.

One thing that I realize does help, is to bring something tangible with us when we go to work or out to activities. You could wear a cross necklace, bring your bible and/or a Christian book to read during a break or lunch at work, or maybe write a Scripture verse on a piece of paper and put it in your pocket.

In this way, during your day at work or with your kids etc., you have a reminder of God – not that you worship the object – no – but that you have something you can touch and hold and look at to remind you and bring you back to your anchor – your God. I would like to encourage all of us to try this out. Do whatever you need to do in order to bring yourself back in touch with God throughout your day and to stay grounded in God.

(Ephesians 3:14-19) “For this reason I kneel before the Father, from whom every family in heaven and on earth derives its name. I pray that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen you with power through His Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
