WEEKLY WORD – DARKNESS TO LIGHT (12/8/20)

I was thinking today… Darkness. It may seem like an odd topic considering the time of year it is, but Jesus is the light of the world, and that light repels the darkness. I think we have all had times of darkness. Some are short and some last longer and go deeper so that it seems we are so enveloped in it that we can’t get out. Please remember that no matter what challenges or sadness or personal hell you may be going through, Jesus is there with you to help you see the light.

Do not forget that we have light in us even when we can’t seem to feel it or find it, it is still there – no matter how dim – it is still there. We are to be a light to the world as Jesus was and is, to carry on His love and teach people about God’s kingdom. We cannot do that when we are smothered in our own darkness.

Cry out to Jesus, read scripture, be still and listen to God. Your light is still there – use it to overpower the darkness. I know this time of year can be filled with great joy and/or great sorrow. Let Jesus be the light for you to fill your heart and soul with peace and love everlasting.

Psalm 18:28 – “You, Lord, keep my lamp burning; my God turns my darkness into light.”

Psalm 119:105 – “Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”

Matthew 5:16 – “In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

John 1:5 – “The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.”

To God be the Glory,
