WEEKLY WORD – REJOICE! (12/22/20)

I was thinking today….Rejoice – do we rejoice like we should? Do we realize the beautiful, amazing, wondrous gift God has given us in Jesus? Do we sing, shout, dance, and praise God in thankful, grateful worship? Are we so overcome with joyous emotion that we can’t hold it in? As I was listening to Christian Christmas music, I thought, why don’t we hear these songs all year long?

We talk about Jesus, we study and learn about Jesus, but do we really feel and rejoice about Jesus every day? Maybe sometimes we get too much in our heads and not in our hearts. I think we have to be thankful and grateful in order to rejoice.

If we are constantly thinking about and focusing on our hardships and challenges in this life we forget about what God has given us, the sacrifice out of love that He gave us in Jesus, and all we have to do is choose to believe and follow Him. This world will always have challenges, distractions and hard times to overcome, and if we aren’t careful we can get lost in it all. Take a moment to slow down. Be still and really think about the glorious gift of Jesus and REJOICE!

(Psalm 32:11) Be glad in the LORD and rejoice, you righteous ones; and shout for joy all you who are upright in heart.

(Philippians 4:4) Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!

(Isaiah 61:10) I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels.

To God be the Glory,
