BLOG (5/3/17): IN A PERFECT WORLD

27 So God created human beings in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them. 28 Then God blessed them and said, ‘Be fruitful and multiply. Fill the earth and govern it. Reign over the fish in the sea, the birds in the sky, and all the animals that scurry along the ground.’ 29 Then God said, ‘Look! I have given you every seed-bearing plant throughout the earth and all the fruit trees for your food. 30 And I have given every green plant as food for all the wild animals, the birds in the sky, and the small animals that scurry along the ground; everything that has life.’ And that is what happened. 31 Then God looked over all he had made, and he saw that it was very good! (Genesis 2:27-31, NLT).

Whether or not you are participating in The HPC BIBLE READING PROJECT I wanted to share with EVERYONE a thought I had as I was reading Genesis chapters 1-11, our first three days into the project.

In the Bible verses above, God has just created humanity and established them in the Garden of Eden. God said it was “very good!” Sounds pretty nice, doesn’t it? Sounds quite idyllic. Sounds like a PERFECT WORLD!

Well, it WAS a PERFECT WORLD at that point. Ponder that thought for a moment. What would it be like to live in a Perfect World? There would be no tears, no sorrow, no crying, no pain… not even death!

You see, when God created us, He created us to live FOREVER. Our human bodies were not designed to give out – God designed us in HIS Perfect Image. Never to get sick, never to have cancer, never to worry, NEVER TO DIE!

To the converse, when God set us into Eden He intended for us to enjoy an intimate and eternal relationship with HIM, our Creator. He desired for us to live in harmony, with joy and happiness, helping one another and celebrating life with HIM. He intended for us to have an understanding of LOVE as something that is wonderful and PURE, not something to be cheapened, diluted, and adulterated.

Genesis Chapter 3 was NEVER supposed to happen! But it did. It did because WE messed up. We got arrogant and wanted to decide for ourselves what is good and evil, rather than desiring for God to make that determination for us. Question… how’s that workin’ out for us? BUT… HERE IS THE SECRET OF GENESIS…

If you read Genesis Chapters 1 & 2, then immediately go to Revelation 21:1-7, you will get a picture of what our lives would look like today IF we had NEVER SINNED in the Garden of Eden. Genesis 3 through Revelation 20 would have never needed to take place because we would have been living ALL ALONG in a complete and pure relationship with God our Father!

Here’s the GOOD NEWS… Because of Jesus Christ, EDEN will once again be RESTORED to us, just like the Bible states in Revelation 21. God was good, God IS good, and God will be good to US, forever! We love you all and we’ll see you this Sunday!
